What We Believe

GOD

WE BELIEVE IN THE ONE TRUE, HOLY, AND LIVING GOD, WHO CREATES AND SUSTAINS ALL THINGS VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE. HE IS INFINITE IN POWER, WISDOM, JUSTICE, GOODNESS AND LOVE, AND RULES WITH GRACIOUS CARE FOR THE WELL-BEING AND SALVATION OF EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING. WE BELIEVE THAT THE ONE GOD REVEALS HIMSELF AS THE TRINITY: FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT, DISTINCT BUT INSEPARABLE, ETERNALLY ONE IN ESSENCE AND POWER.
(GENESIS 1:27; JOHN 3:16; 2 PETER 3:9; 2 CORINTHIANS 13:14)

JESUS CHRIST

WE BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, AND THAT HE WAS, IN EVERY WAY FULLY GOD AND FULLY HUMAN. HE IS THE ETERNAL WORD MADE FLESH, THE ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF THE FATHER, BORN OF THE VIRGIN MARY BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. HE TRULY LIVED, SUFFERED, AND DIED ON THE CROSS, WAS BURIED, ROSE FROM THE DEAD, AND ASCENDED INTO HEAVEN TO BE WITH THE FATHER UNTIL HIS RETURN. HE IS OUR SAVIOR WHO INTERCEDES FOR US, AND BY HIM ALL HUMANITY WILL BE JUDGED.
(ISAIAH 7:14, 9:6; MICAH 5:2-3; JOHN 1:1, 14; JOHN 14:7-11; PHILIPPIANS 2:5-7; COLOSSIANS 2:9; REVELATION 19:11-16)

THE HOLY SPIRIT

WE BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO PROCEEDS FROM AND IS ONE WITH THE FATHER AND THE SON. THE SPIRIT MAKES THE WORLD AWARE OF SIN, OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND OF JUDGMENT. THE SPIRIT CALLS TO THE HEARTS OF ALL PEOPLE TO FOLLOW JESUS AND BECOME PART OF HIS CHURCH. THE SPIRIT COMFORTS, SUSTAINS AND EMPOWERS THE FAITHFUL, GUIDING THEM INTO ALL TRUTH. WE BELIEVE THAT WHEN A PERSON ACCEPTS JESUS CHRIST AS THEIR LORD AND SAVIOR, THEY ALSO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT.
(JOHN 16:13; ACTS 2:38; ROMANS 8:9-11)

THE HOLY BIBLE

WE BELIEVE THE ENTIRE HOLY BIBLE, IS THE INSPIRED THE WORD OF GOD. IT WAS WRITTEN BY HUMAN AUTHORS with THE SUPERNATURAL GUIDANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. IT IS THE SUPREME SOURCE OF TRUTH FOR CHRISTIAN BELIEFS AND LIVING. BECAUSE IT IS INSPIRED BY GOD, IT IS TRUTH WITHOUT ANY MIXTURE OF ERROR.
(PROVERBS 30:5-6; PSALM 12:6, 119:105,160; 2 TIMOTHY 1:13; 2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17; 2 PETER 1:20-21)

MANKIND

WE BELIEVE THAT WE ARE THE SUPREME OBJECT OF GOD'S CREATION. ALTHOUGH HUMANS HAVE TREMENDOUS POTENTIAL FOR GOOD, THEY ARE MARRED BY AN ATTITUDE OF DISOBEDIENCE TOWARD GOD CALLED "SIN." THIS ATTITUDE SEPARATES MAN FROM GOD.
(GENESIS 1:27; PSALM 8:3-6; ISAIAH 53:6; ROMANS 3:23)

SALVATION

WE BELIEVE THAT A PERSON CAN NEVER MAKE UP FOR THEIR SIN BY SELF-IMPROVEMENT OR GOOD WORKS — ONLY BY TRUSTING IN JESUS CHRIST AS GOD'S OFFER OF FORGIVENESS CAN MAN BE SAVED FROM SIN'S PENALTY. A PERSON MUST CONFESS HIS OR HER SINS, REPENT AND ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS LORD AND SAVIOR IN ORDER TO BE CLEANSED FROM SIN. ETERNAL LIFE BEGINS THE MOMENT ONE RECEIVES JESUS CHRIST INTO HIS OR HER LIFE BY FAITH.
(ROMANS 3:23, 5:1, 6:23, 10:9-10; EPHESIANS 2:8-9; JOHN 14:6, 1:12; TITUS 3:5; GALATIANS 3:26; ROMANS 5:1)

WE BELIEVE THAT SALVATION IS NOT GIVEN TO US BY OUR WORKS, BUT BY GOD BASED UPON HIS GRACE.
(EPHESIANS 2:8-9)

THE CHURCH

WE BELIEVE THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH IS THE COMMUNITY OF ALL PEOPLE WHO FOLLOW JESUS AS THEIR LORD. IT IS THROUGH GOD’S COMMUNITY THAT BELIEVERS DEVOTE THEMSELVES TO TEACHING, FELLOWSHIP, WORSHIP, MINISTRY, EVANGELISM, AND MISSION. WE CARE for AND LOVE one ANOTHER. OUR MISSION, WHICH comes FROM SCRIPTURE, IS TO MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS.
(MATTHEW 22:37-38; MATTHEW 28:16-20; ACTS 2:42-48)

BAPTISM

WE BELIEVE THAT BAPTISM IS YOUR PUBLIC DECLARATION THAT YOU HAVE ACCEPTED JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR. BAPTISM DOES NOT SAVE YOU BUT SHOWS THE WORLD THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN SAVED. AND WHILE BAPTISM IS NOT REQUIRED FOR SALVATION, IT IS A BIBLICAL COMMAND AND DEMONSTRATES YOUR LOVE AND OBEDIENCE TO CHRIST. BAPTISM IS DONE BY IMMERSION. (MATTHEW 3:13-17; MATTHEW 28:19-20; ROMANS 6:3-4)

COMMUNION/THE LORD’S SUPPER

WE BELIEVE THAT COMMUNION IS A REPRESENTATION OF OUR REDEMPTION. THROUGH COMMUNION, WE REMEMBER THE SUFFERINGS AND DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST. IT IS A MEANS OF THE LOVE AND UNION WHICH CHRISTIANS HAVE WITH CHRIST AND WITH ONE ANOTHER. ALL THOSE WHO CHOOSE TO FOLLOW JESUS ARE WELCOME AT THE TABLE, HOWEVER EACH PERSON SHOULD EXAMINE THEMSELVES BEFORE THEY COME TO THE TABLE. ‘DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME’.
(LUKE 22:19-20; 1 CORINTHIANS 11:27-29)

MARRIAGE

WE BELIEVE THAT GOD APPROVES MARRIAGE AT HE CREATED BETWEEN ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN BY JOINING TOGETHER IN UNION, WHICH REFLECTS CHRIST’S RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS CHURCH.
(GENESIS 2:18-25; 1 CORINTHIANS 7:2; EPHESIANS 5:22-33)
